The man lost his payment card in the parking lot. The new “owner” used it for his own purposes 37 times. He spent PLN 1,500 in shops and services. He was detained. It turned out that he was wanted.
A man reported to the police station after losing his payment card at one of the parking lots in Praga Północ. “Over the next three days, someone used it contactlessly 37 times in various stores, service points, including a photo booth,” the superintendent said in a statement. Paulina Onyszko from the Warsaw District Police Headquarters VI. In this way, the injured party lost PLN 1,500.
The police took a closer look at the behavior of the new “owner” of the card, looking at every transaction made. They selected a 39-year-old man as the suspect.
He was wanted
The man was detained a few days ago in Praga Północ. As it turned out, he was wanted by the local prosecutor's office because he had not fulfilled his alimony obligation.
“During interrogation, the man admitted to misappropriating the found card and using it multiple times. He explained that he used the card to pay, among other things, in a photo booth for taking photos for a new ID card. When he realized after some time that it was inactive, he threw it away,” she said. Onyszko.
He confessed
The 39-year-old was charged with three charges: misappropriating someone else's payment card, making unauthorized payments with it and attempting to break its security. Because the man had been convicted many times in the past, the charges he heard concerned recidivism.
According to the police, the 39-year-old confessed to all the crimes he was accused of.
