Almost half a million people used the new tram route to Wilanów in a week. Nearly 75,000 passengers traveled on the opening day. The Miasteczko Wilanów stop is the most popular. In turn, of the two lines serving the route: 14 and 16, the latter has more passengers.

According to the city hall, 478,000 people have used the new tram lines to Wilanów so far – that is, within a week. “Almost half of them – as many as 196,000 passengers – traveled on the 'Wilanów' section of the new route. It connects the part of Wilanów, which has been intensively expanding in recent years, and the housing estates located along Jana III Sobieskiego and Belwederska streets with the route along Puławska and Marszałkowska streets” – provided by the town hall.

14 or 16 to choose from

The new route starts at Puławska. The tram overcomes the 22-meter level difference towards Dolny Mokotów along Goworka and Spacerowa streets. Here, some trains go straight along Gagarina Street (line number 11), and most turn into Belwederska, and then go along Sobieskiego Street and Aleja Rzeczypospolitej. The terminal for bidirectional trams is located at the junction with Branicki.

The lines run on a new route 14 and 16. Line 16 runs from Miasteczko Wilanów to Bielany (through the center, the “Radosława” roundabout, Żoliborz to the terminus in Piaski). During peak hours it runs every 4 minutes. Some of the routes end in the Muranowska area, where a new terminus has been built.

Line number 14 starts from Miasteczko Wilanów and follows a similar route to Zbawiciela Square. There it turns and goes through Politechniki Square and Filtry Square to the Banacha loop.

Trams on line 14 leave every 8 minutes during rush hours, and on line 16 – every 4 minutes. There are 22-23 departures per hour. “In total, a record number of trams are now on the tracks in Warsaw every day – 456 trains during peak hours,” informs the city hall.

Ultimately, there will be 30 trips on a common section during peak hours, which gives six thousand places on trams. Line 16 provides three thousand seats and line 14 provides 1.5 thousand seats each. For comparison: line 522 provides one thousand seats, and lines 501 and 519 each provide 500 seats.

75 thousand passengers on the opening day

The tram route to Wilanów was opened on Tuesday, October 29. At 4:33 the first scheduled tram of line 16 started from the initial Miasteczko Wilanów stop. The second of the two new lines starting from Wilanów, i.e. “fourteen”, had its first departure at 4:53.

“From the very morning, the trams of both lines were very popular – throughout Tuesday, almost 75,000 people boarded them (74,911 to be precise). On a completely new section of their routes, where previously there was no tram connection at all, i.e. between Puławska Street (Goworka stop) and A. Branickiego (Miasteczko Wilanów stop) – almost 32,000 passengers,” the city hall estimates.

As he adds, on All Saints' Day, Warsaw residents also used these lines on their way to the capital's necropolises, especially the “sixteen”, the route of which leads near the Powązki Cemetery and the Wawrzyszewski Cemetery. On that day, over 56,000 people used trams on these lines. people, including line 16 – over 46 thousand.

“In the following days of the first week of tram operation, on working days of November 4 and 5, trams 14 and 16 show a gradual increase in the number of passengers up to a level comparable to the first day,” the city hall informs. As he specifies, on Monday it was over 69,000. people (over 26 thousand on the new section) and on Tuesday almost 73.5 thousand. (over 27,000 on the new section). “This is proof that in their daily trips to work or school, residents are increasingly willing to choose the tram connecting Wilanów with the city center and other districts,” he notes.

“16” more popular

Line 16 is more popular among passengers. According to city hall data, it takes about 75 percent. travelers among all those using both new lines. Over 362,000 people used it in a week. people (including over 143 thousand on the new section) and over 116 thousand from the “14” (including over 52,000 on the new section).

The city hall emphasizes that the new stops are very popular. “Among the 10 with the largest number of passengers, as many as 7 are those launched last week,” he specifies.

Most people get on and off at two stops in the very center, i.e. at the Dmowskiego roundabout (over 62,000 entries and exits) and the Świętokrzyska metro station (over 44,000). Third place in this ranking is Miasteczko Wilanów (over 43,000). ) and further: St. Boniface, Dolna, Oś Królewska, Temple of Divine Providence, Nałęczowska, Jan III Sobieski and Rondo Zgrupowania AK “Radosław”.

6.5 kilometers and 12 stops

The section of the new tram route from the intersection of Belwederska, Gagarina, Spacerowa to the terminal on Branickiego is approximately 6.5 kilometers long. There were 12 bus stop complexes there. There is no classic loop at the end, so the route is only served by two-way vehicles of the Korean brand Hyundai Rotem.

During the opening of the new tram route, the mayor of Warsaw met with journalists. He praised that the tram would allow residents to get to the center faster. He argued that it would take them half as long as before by bus. It is certain that the travel time will not be optimal for now, because work on roads, bicycle paths, sidewalks and greenery will last until the second half of next year. When the works are completed and tram priority is introduced, the travel time between Śródmieście and Wilanów is expected to drop to below half an hour.

Unfortunately, the new tram route was not without accidents. One of them took place in Rzeczypospolitej Avenue. Then, a Toyota and a tram of line 16 collided while crossing the tracks. Fortunately, no one was injured.
