The contractor of the tram route to Wilanów is finishing the reconstruction of the first road of Spacerowa Street. At the beginning of December, eight bus lines will run there, but only towards Mokotów.

“Favourable weather is crucial for the builders at the moment. If severe frosts or heavy rainfall do not affect the work schedule, eight bus lines will run on Spacerowa and Goworka streets at the beginning of December,” officials from the capital city hall emphasize in the release.

Buses to Spacerowa, cars unchanged

Temporarily, the new road will only serve public transport passengers. Drivers will use existing detours. Buses from the following lines will go down to Belwederska Street: 131, 167, 168, 501, 519, 522, N31 and N81. In the opposite direction, they will remain on detour routes. On the remaining sections of routes: 131, 167, 168, N31 and N81, they will continue to detour through Nabielaka or Sułkowicka streets. Buses 119 will remain on their current route.

The crossing of Belwederska Street through the intersection with Spacerowa and Gagarina will be postponed. But the traffic organization will not change – drivers will still have one lane towards Mokotów and one towards the center.

Car drivers will travel to Goworka and Spacerowa only at the end of the year. There will still be one direction of traffic – down to Belwederska. The northern road of Gagarina Street will also be opened then. Thanks to this, buses from Spacerowa Street will no longer have to detour through Nabielaka and Sułkowicka Streets, but will go straight along their regular route. In turn, the traffic organization from before the construction of the tram line will return to Unii Lubelskiej Square, and the road of Puławska Street leading to the square will also be opened.

“The opening of the second roadway of Spacerowa Street will take place in the second quarter of 2024. Work on the construction of tracks and traction network will continue on Spacerowa Street all the time, even after the roadway is made available for cars and buses,” officials explain.

Construction is halfway through

In the announcement, they indicated that the construction of the tram route to Wilanów is already halfway through. They noted that these works included not only laying tracks, but also replacing heating pipes. “During the work, a temporary 4 km long heat pipeline was built. Thanks to this, it was possible to maintain hot water for over 200 buildings. As many as 14 new heating chambers were also built – many of them are vast underground rooms with a concrete structure,” we read in the release.

Officials indicated that the rails are laid over a distance of approximately 4.5 km. In the second half of November, construction of the tracks began on Goworka and Spacerowa.

Delay

Originally, both streets were supposed to be passable in September, but the need to rebuild heating pipes caused a delay. We have already informed about it on tvnwarszawa.pl.

“When the contractor uncovered the pipes, it turned out that some of them – built several dozen years ago – were in poor technical condition. Their comprehensive reconstruction is in the interest of the residents. A decision was made to build eight kilometers of heating pipes. This affected the entire investment schedule,” he explains. town hall.
