In Rembertów, the police detained a man who was captured by two residents visiting the cemetery. The 37-year-old is suspected of insulting the resting place. He faces up to two years in prison.
Police officers from the Rembertów police station intervened at the cemetery in connection with the report of a citizen's arrest of a man. – On site, it turned out that a couple visiting the grave of their loved one noticed and recognized a man who had previously insulted burial places in this cemetery several times – explained Sub-Inspector Joanna Węgrzyniak from the Warsaw VII District Police Headquarters in a statement.
The 37-year-old was arrested. – According to the materials collected in the case, the man from time to time rode his bicycle to the cemetery and desecrated graves there. He placed pornographic photos on monuments and committed indecent acts, Węgrzyniak said.
The collected evidence allowed the detainee to be charged with insulting the deceased's resting place, i.e. an act under Article 262, paragraph 1 of the Penal Code. This offense is punishable by up to two years in prison.
The 37-year-old was placed under police supervision. The proceedings in this case are supervised by the Warsaw Praga-Południe District Prosecutor's Office.
