Minister of Justice Adam Bodnar stayed on the campus of the University of Warsaw when a tragedy took place in front of the Maximum auditorium. He took part in a lecture opened at the Faculty of Political Sciences and International Relations. On Wednesday, around 18.40, a young man attacked an administrative employee in front of the Maximum auditorium at the campus of the University of Warsaw. The woman suffered severe injuries, died on the spot. The perpetrator also wounded the intervening guard. He was soon detained.

The tragedy at the campus occurred at a time when the Faculty of Political Sciences and International Relations was held an open lecture by Professor Samuel Issacharoff from the New York University School of Law, an American expert of constitutional law and the law of democracy.

One of the points of the program was to be the speech of the Minister of Justice Adam Bodnar. We find such information, among others, in an invitation to a lecture published on the website of the Institute of Legal Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The invitation to the event was also published at the end of April on the WNPISM UW website, it is now not available.

The event took place in the auditorium of Professor J. Baszkiewicz, located in the WNPISM auditorium. It is located in the western part of the main campus at Krakowskie Przedmieście 26/28. Bodnar: I was present in the campus

Our reporter Artur Węgrzynowicz was the first to determine that Minister Adam Bodnar was at the University of Warsaw, when an attack on the porter took place. Soon this information was confirmed in his sources by Grzegorz Łakomski, an investigative journalist “Czar and Black” TVN24.

Later, Bodnar himself confirmed his presence at the University at that time.

“I am deeply moved by today's macabre event at the University of Warsaw. I submit condolences to a loved one and the entire university community. I wish you a quick recovery to a wounded guard. Thank you to the SOP officer who was present nearby, working in a team that protects my visit to the university,” he said.

As Bodnar explained, the SOP officer was alerted about the event, ran to the place and successfully supported the university guard in intervention.

I learned about it after the fact from SOP officers, who, according to the procedure, efficiently evacuated me from the UW. SOP. A spokesman for the Ministry of Interior and Administration denies information about the attempt to assassination

Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesman for the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, referred to the matter on Thursday. – It is no secret that Minister Bodnar at the same time was at this university in a completely different place. There were various speculation that maybe it was an attempt at the assassination of Minister Bodnar. I deny it. The minister was safe – he emphasized in an interview with journalists.

He explained that, according to the procedures, SOP officers evacuated the minister when they received information about the tragedy. – The head of the protection of Minister Bodnar ran quickly, assisted the university's protective service, he helped them, among others, in the incapacitation of this man, stopping him and transferring him to the police – said Dobrzyński.

He emphasized that the SOP officer has survived in a very professional way. “Praise him for it and great respect,” he added.

The SOP officer helped the attacker overpower

Earlier, Colonel Bogusław Piórkowski, a spokesperson for SOP, also said information about the SOP intervention. As he reported in an interview with TVN24, one of the SOP officers “provided assistance to intervening employees of the University Protection Guard, and also provided first aid to the pre -medical wounded employee.”

– Our officers conducted their protective activities. And hearing the screams, one of the officers ran to this place of the incident, he noticed that the security workers were already incapacitated by this attacker, helped them in this activity and then (…) he also began to give pre -medical first aid to injured persons – said Piórkowski.

The colonel said that the SOP officer was not injured. – We are trained and prepared for such critical situations all the time, so thanks to this our officer reacted exemplary and maybe saved the life of this employee – he added.
