Warsaw. Poor air quality in the morning. Where is the biggest smog?

A foggy morning in the capital is conducive to the formation of smog. Data from the Warsaw Air Index indicate that in many places in the city, the Standards of PM10, PM2.5 and PM1 in the air have been exceeded in the city.

On Tuesday morning, Warsaw is wrapped in fog. The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued a first degree warning against dense fogs for Mazoviawithin which visibility can be below 200 meters. The warning will be in force until 10 o'clock. Such weather is conducive to smog because harmful dusts settle in the fog of water drops.

Measurements carried out as part of the Warsaw air index indicate that the worst on Tuesday morning is in the sensor area in the following locations: Szwoleżers 5 in Śródmieście, Radzymińska 227 and Wacław Tokarz 2 in Targówek, Stefan Żeromski 22/28 in Bielany and the setting sun 25 in Bemów.

In these places, air quality is referred to as evil (red). This means that “sick, older, pregnant women and young children should avoid being outdoors.” “The remaining population should minimize all outdoor physical activity – especially requiring long -term or increased physical exertion,” said on the WIP website.

In other parts of the city, air quality is referred to as sufficient (orange) or moderate (yellow). The permissible values ​​of pm10, PM2.5 and PM1 in the air are also exceeded here.

Warsaw air index

The data comes from the Warsaw air index (WIP), i.e. an indicator expressing the approximate degree of atmospheric air pollution on a four -stage scale along with the recommendations for residents.

“Sensors measure pollution with PM10, PM2.5, as well as PM1, i.e. dust, whose diameter does not exceed 1 micrometer. In addition, all sensors measure nitrogen dioxide pollution, and some devices located away from the streets, additionally ozone” – says the town hall .

The data come from reference stations and over 160 sensors in Warsaw.
