Contractor of the bus lane on Głębocka and św. Wincentego introduced a new traffic organization. The bus lane that has been awaited for many months has been marked out. The construction site will be slowly closed down.
“However, you should not be surprised if, when driving that way, bus drivers and passengers see Balzola employees. Cleaning works will continue along both streets and possible corrections will be made. The contractor will slowly liquidate the construction site,” we read in the announcement from the Municipal Roads Authority.
More efficient connection
Most of the new bus lane is now passable. After the introduction of permanent traffic organization on the road towards Bródno, it will stretch between the “CH Targówek” 03 stop and ul. Kondratowicz. On the other road, it will apply between the intersection with Przy Grodzisku and Malborska streets and the mentioned stop. On sections with one lane, the road has been widened.
“Public transport is the most popular means of transport in Warsaw. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure fast and efficient connections. This is what the new bus lane will provide to the residents of eastern Białołęka. Głębocka Street and then Św. Wincentego Street are a direct route to the Kondratowicza station of the second metro line. They run here are buses of several lines, including 527 from Grodzisk – buses of this line arrive at the stops every 5 minutes during rush hours,” they explain road workers.
What else besides the bus lane?
In addition to building the bus lane, the contractor was also responsible for building separate right-turn lanes into Malborska Street and extending the right-turn onto the access road to the Atrium Targówek shopping center. The surface on the entire rebuilt section was also replaced.
The changes also included the construction of an asylum at the crossing on the southern side of the intersection at św. Wincentego with Malborska and Przy Grodzisku streets, as well as the extension of the bicycle path and the construction of a passage on the southern side of the roundabout at the height of the above-mentioned center, which will ensure the continuity of the bicycle route between Bródno and Białołęka.
The construction of the bus lane was possible thanks to the decision of the Warsaw Council to change the Multiannual Financial Forecast. The contract for the construction of the bus lane alone is worth over PLN 14.3 million. This is almost PLN 5.7 million less than the estimated cost. Moreover, the investment was financed jointly by the local government and a private investor – G-City, which owns the nearby shopping center.
Long-awaited changes
In March, we informed on tvnwarszawa.pl that that a bus lane along Głębocka and św. Wincentego streets has been announced for many months.
Until work begins The Municipal Roads Authority was considering it last summer. But ultimately, nothing changed on the main artery connecting Białołęka with Bródno. In March, ZDM announced the announcement of a tender for the construction of a bus lane. “On Thursday, March 14, the Warsaw Council decided to change the Multiannual Financial Forecast and granted us additional funds,” ZDM explained.
