According to the agreement concluded at the end of last year between the capital's town hall and the Mazowieckie voivode, from March 1 the Municipal Conservator of Monuments will take over some of the duties from its counterpart at the voivodship level.
The agreement on “entrusting the city of Warsaw to conduct certain matters in the field of the property of the Mazowieckie Voivode, implemented by the Mazowieckie Provincial Conservator of Monuments” was signed between the Mazowieckie Voivode and the President of Warsaw on December 19 last year.
What will change?
“Under the agreement, the Bureau of the Capital Conservator of Monuments (BSKZ) will agree, among others, conservation works and construction works on immovable monuments and issued conservation recommendations. It will also deal with matters related to archaeological research and monuments revealed during earthworks” – said the town hall.
In addition, the municipal office will issue permits to carry out conservation works or construction works in areas entered in the register of monuments, which will also apply to the greenery and historical parks located there.
Arrangements for construction projects will also be issued for facilities included in the municipal register of monuments. The above -mentioned duties will be carried out by the capital's conservator in the majority of Warsaw. BSKZ will not deal with movable monuments.
The Mazowieckie conservator (MWKZ) will continue to look after monuments located in facilities belonging or used, e.g. by ministries and the government, marshal and voivodship offices, as well as the embassies. His duties will continue to be conducting matters in history monuments (i.e. at the royal course, filters and a team of religious cemeteries in PowÄ…zki and regarding the building of the former Ministry of Religious Denominations and Public Enlightenment). As before, the Mazovian conservator will deal with the facilities inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, i.e. the Old Town together with the Royal Castle.
The application will be a hint to which authority submit an application
The town hall emphasized that the takeover of part of the duties by BSKZ will not affect the fate of matters conducted so far by the Mazowiecki conservator. “He will not bring additional formalities to the applicants,” he added. If they apply to the thematic and area scope mentioned in the agreement, the capital conservator will continue.
In March, an application will be launched, thanks to which you can easily find out to which conservation body (capital or voivodship) a request should be submitted. The application will be available via the website of the Capital Monument Conservator's office.
