Thick, acrid smoke was coming from a property in Warsaw's Targówek district. With the help of a drone, city guards confirmed that garbage was being burned in the furnace.
A city guard patrol noticed thick smoke coming from the chimney of one of the construction companies at Nieświeska Street in Targówek.
“They decided to carry out tests with a drone, which allows for a quick analysis of air quality. The test result was clear – no legally permitted fuel was burned in this place,” said the press release of the Warsaw City Guard.
Waste burned in a makeshift furnace
The officers entered the property. During further inspection, they determined that the furnace used by the company was not only used to burn waste, but was also an out-of-class makeshift device and should be decommissioned by law.
“The guards imposed a penalty on the person responsible for polluting the environment, as provided for in the regulations, and banned the further use of smoke cigarettes. Users of nearby buildings breathed cleaner air, and the guards will check whether the situation will not happen again,” the guards explained in a statement.
The fine for burning waste can be up to PLN 500. You can get the same amount for using an illegal stove.
