On Wednesday, the Warsaw Trams announced a tender for the development of executive documentation for the tram line to Gocław. The town hall gave a schedule of further preparations for the start of construction. There is also a new visualization of the route.

The Warsaw town hall reminded that Warsaw trams already have construction projects of the new route, approved projects of permanent traffic organization and an important environmental decision. In addition, the councilors voted a budget self -amendment, reported by the President of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski, according to which PLN 108 million was allocated to obtain the land necessary to implement the tram route to Gocław.

Preparation schedule

“Now it's time for the next step – the announcement of the tender procedure for the development of executive projects as well as the correction and update of your documentation. As part of the right, it is also planned to develop materials and obtain a decision to determine the location of the railway line, which will allow the Warsaw tram company to have real estate for construction purposes” – the Supreme Town Hall indicated in the Wednesday communication.

The decision to determine the location of the line is to be obtained – according to the assumptions of the TRAMWAY Warsaw – in 2026. In 2027, the trams are to get permits to carry out construction works. At this time, after securing financial resources, it will be possible to announce a tender for the construction of a new route.

The tram track towards Gocław will depart from the existing route at al. Washington in the area of ​​the exhibition channel. Then the tracks will be conducted along the channel, viaduct over al. United States and so -called Millennium routes. Further, the tram will go along ul. Bora-Komorowski to the Gocław tram and bus loop in the area of ​​the Siekierkowska Route.

Officials calculate that six stop complexes with 14 new platforms, the tram-fasting and bicycle bridge over the exhibition canal, three pedestrian and bicycle footbridges above the exhibition channel and a viaduct over a lowered level to level -1 al. United States.

In addition, construction projects assume planting at least 320 trees, nearly 7,000 decorative shrubs and a perennial. Over two and a half of four kilometers of the new route will be a green track.

The contract for the design of the tram to Gocław was signed in 2020. But EU funds allocated to this investment were moved to the purchase of electric buses. Then the city announced that it was starting to prepare for the construction of the third metro line from the National Stadium station to Gocław and there were questions about the sense of the implementation of the tram line.

The course of the next third metro line was strongly criticized by activists. In their opinion, he is “pushed by force”, and a faster journey from Prague Południe to the center can be provided by a tram. After the publication of a technical study for the third metro line, activists found that the underground railway is the final nail in the casket for the planned tram. The authors of the study referred in it to the simultaneous construction of the tram to Gocław. In the final conclusions, they stated that this has no economic justification if the metro was built. They indicated that the implementation of the tram route “would be inconsistent with the principles of hierarchy of means of transport.”

They also noticed that the tram would not power the underground queue with passengers. The town hall announced, however, that it did not give up the construction of the tram line.
