Over a million people used the new tram lines 14 and 16. They connect Miasteczko Wilanów with Śródmieście, Bielany and Ochota. The millionth passenger boarded the “sixteen” at the Metro Świętokrzyska stop.
On Friday, November 15, the millionth passenger of the line serving the new route to Wilanów boarded tram number 16 (brygada 2, rolling stock number 4282, direction: Miasteczko Wilanów) at 9.30 a.m. at the Metro Świętokrzyska stop. On the first day, 75,000 people
Trams no. 14 and 16 started on October 29 on the newly built route to Wilanów. On the first day, almost 75,000 people boarded. On some weekdays, the number of passengers boarding these trams already exceeds that at the inauguration. The previous record was set on November 14 – exactly 77,811 people.
For comparison, tram line 17, the longest in Warsaw (23.4 km; 49 stops), is boarded by 100-110 thousand people every day.
Since the opening of new routes, almost half of the passengers – over 407,000. – traveled on the “Wilanów” section of the new route (stops Miasteczko Wilanów – Goworka).
The new stops are the most popular on lines 14 and 16. ZTM data shows that among the 10 with the largest number of passengers boarding, as many as 7 are those on the “Wilanów” section. Most people get on and off at two stops in the very center of Warsaw, i.e. at the Dmowskiego roundabout (over 125,000 entries and exits) and the Świętokrzyska metro station (over 93,000). Third place in this ranking is św. Boniface (over 76 thousand) and further: Dolna, Temple of Divine Providence, Miasteczko Wilanów, Goworka, Oś Królewska, Nałęczowska, Hoża.
“Sixteen” more popular
Line 16 is more popular among passengers – it takes approximately 75 percent of passengers among all those using both new lines. By November 14, over 737,000 people had used it. people (including almost 300,000 on the new section), and from the “14” over 247,000. (including over 115,000 on the new section).
The largest number of passengers is transported in the afternoon peak, between 16 and 17 – over 10 percent of all travelers; in the morning peak it is about 7 percent.
“The use of the 'Wilanów' section in both peaks is more similar, which may indicate that this route is also a good local connection (e.g. to friends or school), not only for further journeys to other districts,” ZTM said.
The route is 6.5 kilometers long
The tram route to Wilanów was opened on October 29. The section of the new tram route from the intersection of Belwederska, Gagarina, Spacerowa to the terminal on Branickiego is approximately 6.5 kilometers long. There were 12 bus stop complexes there. There is no classic loop at the end, so the route is only served by two-way vehicles of the Korean brand Hyundai Rotem.
