With the beginning of the school year, trams will return to Puławska to the end of Sielce and Kercelak. However, on the second of these sections, work will start again a few days later. Trams will not go down Okopowa to the Radosław roundabout.

Tram drivers are finishing up repairs on Kercelak, a very busy part of the network. On a normal schedule, about two thousand trams pass through here every day.

“Trams will return to Towarowa and the intersection with al. Solidarności on September 2. Travel on and through the tracks will be smoother and quieter,” tram drivers reported.

It is also ending summer break in tram service in Mokotów related to the next stages of the construction of the tram to Wilanów. On September 2, the trams will return to Puławska and the Goworka – Spacerowa – Gagarina line.

“Of course, this does not mean the end of work at the junction with the next sections of the tram routes under construction on Rakowiecka or to Wilanów. However, subsequent work related to connecting the new infrastructure or finishing works will not affect the trams' operation or may be carried out during the night break,” the tram drivers noted.

Constructed crossings, replaced rails and switches

Tram drivers also carried out many smaller repairs or modernizations. On Stawki Street, on the section between Lewartowskiego and Pokorna, an intertrack crossing was built. At the end of June, the rails and switches were replaced on the PKP Służewiec loop.

In July, five switches were replaced at the Kino Femina junction, the tracks were repaired at the junction at the Broniewskiego and Galla Anonima intersection and at the Broniewskiego and Matysiakówny intersection, and the track was repaired in the eastern part of the Broniewskiego and Armii Krajowej intersections. In August, the rails were replaced on the arches at 11 Listopada Street (in the area of the railway viaduct).

Okopowa without trams

From 7 to 15 September, a break in tram traffic is planned on Okopowa Street between Kercelak and the Radosława roundabout. During this time, the turnouts at the Radosława roundabout (entrance from Okopowa Street) will be replaced. The tracks at the intersection of Okopowa and Anielewicza will be renovated.

“These works could not be carried out in August during the partial closure of Kercelak due to the course of replacement lines. Otherwise, it would have been necessary to close a large area of the tram network at one time, which would have significantly hindered travel around Wola,” the tram drivers explained.

In October, works are planned on Washington Avenue in the area of Kinowa and Międzynarodowy Streets.
