Someone painted an inscription in red spray on one of the walls of the Umschlagplatz monument. “Warsaw 1943 = Gaza 2025” – it was written.

The police received a report about the destruction of the monument on January 3. – The notification was received from a representative of the Polin museum. The perpetrator is unknown. He is wanted by the police and activities are underway, said Jacek Wiśniewski from the Warsaw Police Headquarters.

It reminds us of the victims of the ghetto

Umschlagplatz is a currently non-existent railway ramp, which, together with the buildings in its vicinity, was used in 1942–1943 by the Nazis as a place to concentrate Jews from the Warsaw Ghetto before deporting them, among others. to the extermination camp in Treblinka.

Currently, there is a memorial site on the site of the former transshipment yard. It is created by a monument symbolizing an open railway wagon. Names are carved on its internal walls, recalling the victims of the Warsaw ghetto. The monument is located at Stawki Street.
