Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) have issued first and second degree meteorological threats on a three-point increasing scale.
IMWM warnings of the second degree – heat
Second degree heat alarms are in force in the province Silesianin the counties of Lubliniec and Tarnowskie Góry, BytomPiekary Śląskie, Siemianowice Śląskie, Tychy, Katowice, ChorzowRuda Slaska, Zabrze, GliwiceGliwice, Mikołów, Bieruń-Lędziny, Pszczyna, Zory, RybnikRybnik, Racibórz, Wodzisław, Jastrzębie-Zdrój, Cieszyn, Bielsko-BialaBielski.
Heatwaves are forecast for these counties. The maximum daytime temperature will be between 29 and 31 degrees Celsius, and the minimum nighttime temperature will be between 16 and 19 degrees Celsius.
The alerts will come into effect at 12pm on Wednesday and expire at 6pm on Thursday.
First degree IMWM warnings – heat
First-degree heat alerts are also in effect. They have been issued for the following provinces:
- Opole;
- Lower Silesiaoutside the following counties: Kłodzko, Wałbrzych, WalbrzychKamienna Góra;
- lubuskiein the districts of Żagań and Żary.
Heat is forecast there. Maximum daytime temperatures will range from 29 to 31 degrees Celsius.
The alerts will be in effect on Wednesday from 12pm to 7pm.

A second-degree warning predicts the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena causing significant material losses and a threat to health and life. Dangerous phenomena or the effects of their occurrence significantly limit the conduct of business. Expect disruptions in everyday functioning. Great caution is recommended, the need to track messages and the development of the weather situation. Follow all recommendations issued by the rescue services in the event of a threat.
