Social media has been flooded with photos and videos of falling snow since the morning hours. In some places it fell so much that it covered trees and mountains. TVN24 collected materials from viewers and showed that snow had fallen, among others. in Jelenia Góra, Wałbrzych, the vicinity of Kłodzko, and even some communes in Kashubia.
Snow is not only about skis and sleds. IMWM issues warnings
“Snow covers the Jakuszycka Glade and the surrounding area today. It creates conditions for all winter activities!” -posted the profile of Polana Jakuszycka DCS on X. The video shows even skiers taking advantage of the winter weather to go skiing in the mountains.
Unfortunately, snow also brings dangers. “There is 3 cm of snow on Śnieżka, 2 cm has arrived in 24 hours, and the snow is falling and is expected to fall for the next few days. Thaw and rain are in the forecast for next Sunday. The trails are slippery. Please be careful,” warns the Karkonosze National Park .
The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management also warns against weather conditions. “The wet surface of roads and sidewalks is forecast to freeze after sleet and wet snow, causing them to become icy,” the release reads. For this reason, icing warnings have been issued for the southern counties of Podkarpacie, Lesser Poland and Silesia. They will be valid from midnight until tomorrow at 9:00.
We know the weather forecast. There will be more rainfall
Michał Kowalczuk, forecaster of the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management, forecasts that the next two days will bring heavier rainfall, and in some places (mainly in the north and south) rainfall with snow.
– The highest rainfall amounts are forecast for the Sudetes region. Tomorrow and on the night from Tuesday to Wednesday they will be 25 and 20 liters per square meter. Additionally, storms are possible at the seaside, and icing of roads and sidewalks is possible in the foothill regions of the Carpathians next night, says Kowalczuk.
