What a Finals match Poland – Ukraine at BJK Cup. Two tie-break tennis

After winning 3-0 with Switzerland, the Polish representative joined the clash with Ukraine in the qualifying rounds for the finals of Billie Jean King Cup in Radom. Unfortunately, after the first two matches it was known that they would not win for this meeting. First, Katarzyna Kawa lost 1: 6, 2: 6 to Marta Kostiuk, and later Maja Chwalińska succumbed to Elina Switolina 6: 7 (4), 2: 6. Therefore, the double was played only symbolically because it had no influence on the result.

Maja Chwalińska and Martyna Kubka joined the struggle in the Polish national team, and their rivals were the sisters of Kiczekno – Nadija and Ludmiła. It was the Ukrainian people who were the favorites of this competition, but the white and red fought at least for the honorary victory in the whole match.

I must admit that the Polish women went to the clash ambitiously and withstanded his pace, although their rivals are regular deblists. In many tournaments they do not play in hand, but they have well -developed diagrams in doubles. In the first set, however, they managed to break the Polish couple in the seventh game at 4: 3.

Polish women managed to pass the return break to 5: 5, and later both pairs lost their websites and finally a tie-break was needed. Unfortunately, in it Ukrainians played clearly better and won as much as 7-1, and the whole batch with 7: 6 (1).

The second set was also very even, and Chwalińska and cup were managed to defend the break points in the fourth and sixth game. In the eighth, in turn, a long game was needed for advantage, but finally the scoreboard showed 4: 4. On the other hand, the twins won their passes more convincing and above all faster. For example, they have not lost a single point at 5: 4.

The Polish duo, however, held the game after subsequent, won service games. This led to the second tie-break in the match. This began by breaking in favor of Ukrainians, but the Polish women made up for the loss at the first passage of the rivals, and then broke to 3-1. The rivals made up for the losses at Chwalińska's passes, later they were led by white and red again, but two cups were broken and the visitors were the first to serve for the match. Unfortunately, this opportunity did not waste and won Tie-Breaka 7-5, and the match 2: 0.

The whole match between Poland and Ukraine ended with a 3-0 result for Goścień. The Ukrainian team on Saturday, April 12 will face Switzerland and if he wins, then for the first time in its history he will qualify for the finals of Billie Jean King Cup.
