The state of the pope staying in the hospital remained stable all Sunday – the Vatican said in the latest communication. Francis has no fever and no longer requires mechanical ventilation.
Sunday is the 17th day of the Pope's stay in Roman polyclinic Gemelli, where he is due to bilateral pneumonia.
In the morning communication on his health, it was stated that he spent a quiet night in the hospital and is still resting. That day he also accepted the secretary of the state of the Holy See Cardinal Pietro Parolin and his deputy Archbishop Edgar Pen Parra. This is their second visit from the beginning of hospitalization, which began on February 14.
The Vatican sources explained that the Pope could move and walk, but with help – as it was before his stay in the hospital. Efficient movement prevents him from his knee problem, which is why it is a cane or he uses a wheelchair.
