Nearly PLN 1.5 million was supposed to have disappeared along with a safe from one of the companies in Wieluń. The theft occurred over the weekend. The thieves were to throw the safe out the window and it was to remain unnoticed under the building for 24 hours.
The theft occurred last weekend. First, on the night from Friday to Saturday, around 4:20 a.m., thieves broke into one of the companies in Wieluń. The recordings show them approaching buildings and – after defeating the alarm – entering one of them.
They threw the safe out the window and left it there
There are no recordings from inside the building. But it is known that they enter the office on the first floor, locate a safe there, and throw it out the window.
Later, the camera records them leaving the building, walking around it and trying to lift the safe. They struggle with him for a while and then, probably scared by someone, leave him. They return less than a day later and take the safe. Inside – according to the man injured in the theft – there is about PLN 1.5 million. – They partially dismantled the two-span fence and entered the area from the back. They took this safe and dragged it. He was very heavy, weighing over 100 kilograms. You can see on the camera that they stop every now and then, and then they disappear from the frame. Then they walked through fields and came to a road leading to a sewage treatment plant – says Mr. Damian, the owner of the robbed company. As he adds, on the second day the thieves appeared with a changed lineup. – On the first day there were two people. In the second one there were also two, but one was different. You can see that the first time there is a person who limps a little, but the second time he is different, stronger – he says.
The case is being handled by Wieluń police under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office in Wieluń. – Our officers are investigating the circumstances of a burglary that occurred last weekend on the premises of one of the companies in Wieluń. According to the police findings so far, unknown perpetrators overcame the security of the company's building, got inside, and stole a safe containing cash. Losses are currently being estimated – says staff aspirant Katarzyna Grela, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Wieluń.
“I'm asking – where was the patrol?”
Mr. Damian does not hide his bitterness. In his opinion, the security company failed. – At 3:20 someone enters the building, unblocks the lower alarm, unblocks the upper alarm, the security officer on duty receives information about it, but does not intervene because he did not want to wake me up at night. What kind of translation is this? If he doesn't want to wake me up, he sends a patrol to come and check if something is happening, he says.
He adds that the security company has 24-hour monitoring, but from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday to Friday, it does not intervene if the alarm is unlocked. It only does this from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and on Saturday and Sunday – when someone wants to get inside, they must call the security officer on duty and provide their password.
– The person on duty checks whether this person is assigned to this password and then enters the building – he explains.
The second issue – the safe was lying behind the building for 24 hours and no one from the security noticed it – On Saturday and Sunday, there will be a patrol three times a day and at night to come and patrol the square. They enter, have their own remote control, open the gate, enter, patrol, leave. They should go to the door, pull it to check if the door is locked, go around the building, drive around the area. I wonder where this patrol was? – Mr. Damian is nervous.
He discovered the theft only on Monday morning. First he saw an unactivated alarm at the entrance. – I enter my office through the secretariat and everything is ruined – he says.
– What I can't get over is that I always look through the cameras on Saturdays. And I looked through these cameras! I see that there are workers on the square, we also have a truck workshop – I see that they are there. I looked at the station – they are there. If I looked at the rear camera on my phone, I would have seen something lying on the back, but I just didn't look at it. Later, we look at the cameras with the police, and on Saturday, the weather is nice, the sun is shining, and the safe is lying on the corner of the building… – he reports.
