The weather on Friday was truly wintery in many regions. Snowfall and slippery roads made it difficult for drivers to move – winter tires were a must. There were also snow storms and strong winds. We received reports from Kontakt24.
Two zones of rainfall moved over Poland on Friday and last night. Many places in the country have become white, including: in Western Pomerania, Pomerania, Silesia, Mazovia, the Łódź region and the Lublin region. Locally, snowfall was also accompanied by lightning. There was also a strong wind. The weather was really demanding for some people, the roads were slippery.
In many regions, there were warnings from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management against icing.
Snowfall in Poland. Difficult conditions
At Kontakt24 we received materials from users from Kędzierzyn Koźle (Opole Voivodeship), Gdańsk Whether Chorzów.
As reported by TV Gniezno15 minutes of heavy snowfall was enough for the city to be paralyzed. Most of the streets turned to glass and drivers were stuck on the roads.
“Surprise”
– The road is terrible. It's a dramatic road – said one of the travelers in the Szczecinek area (West Pomeranian Voivodeship) on Friday in an interview with a TVN24 reporter.
– Surprisingly, we have winter tires. It was the first time I saw something like this – reported another traveling man who came to Szczecinek from the Netherlands.
– Everyone is happy, maybe not the elderly, but the children for sure – said another interlocutor from Szczecinek.
It was also wintery here Biała Podlaska.
– It is what it is, [zima – red.] it should be here at this time – said a resident of Biała Podlaska.
Will we see a repeat of the difficulties on Saturday?
As tvnmeteo.pl forecaster Arleta Unton-Pyziołek reported, Poland is under the influence of the high pressure from the Balkans. The pressure is increasing, the snow front has moved away from the country and the wind strength is decreasing. Small, narrow cloud zones with fleeting snowfall are still moving over the country on Saturday, but they will weaken and disappear.
