This is not a taboo, this is not a reason to be shame, because a woman should take care of her health at every stage of life. It is also a social matter. That is why a pilot project has started, which is to completely change medical care in the perimenopausal period.
– There is fear, there is confusion – says Kinga Fromlewicz, Menoedukator and business trainer. That's what he says about his experiences, but also other women who begin to feel the first symptoms of the upcoming menopause. They appeared three years ago when she was 43 years old.
– There is no such awareness. These are years of negligence in our health education – indicates Kinga Flomewicz. That is why she took matters into her own hands. – I dealt with the topic of menopausal education after she entered perimehenopause and experienced such a rather terrible symptom as the brain fog – says Kinga Flomwicz.
93 percent of Polish women cannot indicate the definition of menopause
According to the “Menopause without taboo” report, as much as 93 percent of Polish women cannot indicate the correct definition of menopause. Only seven percent of women know that the date of menopause is medically determined by the last menstruation. Symptoms indicating that this last menstruation is coming, they appear earlier.
– We gain weight, cardiovascular diseases, unfortunately, obesity, but also depressive symptoms are becoming more and more often beginning – says prof. Ewa Wender-ożegowska, national consultant in the field of obstetrics and gynecology.
Usually, perimenopausal age is 45-55 years.

– It is associated with heat beats, most of the society with some humor. However, this is a very difficult period for a woman – says Dr. Anna Janik, vice president of the Supreme Council of Nurses and Midwives.
There is still too little talk about it. – Women, if they talk about menopause, they talk among themselves – notes Barbara Paczkowska -Lewandowska from Kulczyk Foundation. – We want to break taboos – he adds. Among other things, that's why a pilot program organized by Kulczyk Foundation under the auspices of the Ministry of Health: courses for midwives.

Menopause course for midwives
Nearly 90 midwives from all over Poland came to Warsaw for a menopause course, in which issues related to urogynecological health, sexuality and emotional support were raised.
– Midwives who already have qualifications in this area, but want to broaden their knowledge – indicates prof. Grażyna Iwanowicz-Palus, national consultant in the field of gynecological and obstetric nursing.
The answer to the question why midwives is very simple. – The midwife is designed to look after a woman at every stage of her life – indicates Ewa Klimczak, midwife, author of the blog “Midwife on wheels”. Not only during pregnancy or puerperium, but also menopausal transition. Importantly, every Polish woman within item, regardless of age, can choose a midwife.
– Such a declaration can be filled simply in the next item or in the pile in which you want to choose a person, because there is no regionalization- says Ewa Klimczak.
