“You will have to leave”. Orban about the European Union

Prime Minister Viktor Orban spoke on Wednesday about the future of Hungary in the European Union during a forum organized by the Fidesz party. – If in 2004 the EU looked like it looks now, it is not certain whether we would join her – he said.

During the time intended for questions, one of the journalists asked the prime minister to comment on the current item Hungarian in the community. – If in 2004 the EU looked as it looks now, it is not certain whether we would join her – he replied.

When asked about the sense of staying in the EU, the Prime Minister replied: – You have to decide when the moment when it is worth making the decision to leave, but this must be determined after a deep reflection. Leaving should occur when membership defects exceed its advantages. This moment has not yet come – he said.

Against the accession of Ukraine

Also on Wednesday, on his Facebook profile, Orban summed up the course of the forum once again, appealing to the Hungarians that during the ongoing VOKS 2025 referendum they would talk against accession Ukraine to the EU.

– Ukraine's accession to the EU for several dozen years will decide about the future of Hungary (…), we can lose everything we have worked for the last 15 years – the prime minister wrote, adding that Ukraine's entry to the community means “no end with agricultural payments, a reduction in municipal fees and family benefits.”
