The District Court in Ostrołęka upheld the judgment of the District Court in Wyszków, which sentenced Father Łukasz R. to six years in prison. The vicar was accused of sexual offenses against a boy under 15 years of age.

As the spokeswoman of the District Prosecutor's Office in Ostrołęka, Elżbieta Edyta Łukasiewicz, told us, the proceedings ended with an indictment against priest Łukasz R.

– The clergyman was accused of sexual abuse of a minor under 15 years of age and abuse of trust placed in the minor by the clergyman, the promise of both material and personal benefits, recording pornographic content, presenting such content to a minor, and possessing content containing the created image of a minor participating in sexual activity , getting minors drunk and making criminal threats – said the prosecutor.

The alleged crimes were committed by the vicar between December 2011 and January 2016.

Priest sentenced to six years in prison

The prosecutor said that the circumstances established in the investigation regarding sexual crimes were confirmed before the District Court in Wyszków. On January 9, 2024, he found Father Łukasz R. guilty of the acts he was charged with and imposed a total prison sentence of six years.

– In addition, he imposed a ban on holding any position, performing any profession or activity related to the upbringing, education, treatment of minors or taking care of them for 10 years, a ban on contacting the injured party in any form and a ban on approaching him at a distance closer than 100 meters. for a period of 10 years – said prosecutor Łukasiewicz.

She added that the court also awarded compensation in the amount of PLN 50,000 to the injured party and obliged the convict to undergo psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy “due to the disorder of sexual preferences.”

– On December 1, 2024, the District Court in Ostrołęka considered the appeal of the defendant's defense attorney. He did not agree with the arguments presented by the lawyer and upheld the entire judgment of the District Court in Wyszków. The judgment in the case of Łukasz R. is final, the spokeswoman concluded.

The convict, Łukasz R., was placed in pre-trial detention throughout the entire investigation and court proceedings.

He founded a scout team

Father Łukasz R. served as a priest in Zambrów. He was involved in the life of the local community. During the pandemic, he helped, among others: shopping for seniors.

In 2018, he founded a scout team for youth. He went on trips with the children. In 2021, the curia received a report about the molestation of a boy. The Curia in Łomża reported the matter further. As she informed, “the procedures resulting from the provisions of church law have been initiated, and at the same time the prosecutor's office has been notified.”

In 2021, the prosecutor's office charged Łukasz R. with sexual crimes committed to the detriment of a minor under 15 years of age.

Process started at the end of January last year. It took place behind closed doors.
