More than 9.5 kilograms of drugs – mephedrone, marijuana and THC gummies, as well as equipment for their production worth about PLN 50,000, were found in the house of a 39-year-old man from Zgierz County (Łódź Voivodeship). The man was charged with producing and possessing illegal drugs and, by court decision, he was imprisoned for three months.
Officers from the department combating drug crime at the Provincial Police Headquarters in Łódź have suspected for some time that a 39-year-old resident of the Zgierz district may be involved in illegal drug production.
During the observation, they noticed that a Fiat driven by a woman had pulled up to the man's house.
There are six drug tents on the property
– The police decided to identify the woman. While on the property during this activity, they smelled a strong odor of marijuana. They found a 39-year-old man at home. Suspecting that he had drugs, they searched the living and utility rooms. In the basement of the house, they found five grow tents containing non-fiber hemp in various stages of growth. In the next room, the police found a tent where plants were dried. In total, they found 41 dead bushes. Preliminary examination showed that it was marijuana – said Junior Asp. Mateusz Piliński from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Łódź.
Drug production equipment for PLN 50,000
The policeman added that the officers also found and seized several dozen pieces of THC-containing jelly beans, mephedrone and a brown plastic substance. – The police also seized equipment used to produce drugs, the total value of which was over PLN 50,000. According to calculations, thanks to this action, more than 9.5 kilograms of drugs will not reach the market – said Junior Asp. Mariusz Piliński.
The 39-year-old told the officers that he had the drugs for his own use. The prosecutor charged the 39-year-old with production and possession of narcotic and psychotropic substances. At the request of the District Prosecutor's Office in Zgierz, the court imposed temporary arrest on him for three months. The man faces a penalty of up to 20 years in prison.
