ZUS reminds you about an important deadline: You can submit your application only until January 2 application under the “Actively in the nursery” program to receive this benefit with compensation from October. It is guaranteed that a parent who submits an application within three months of the entry into force of the Act will be entitled to this benefit from October 1. The deadline is the first Thursday of 2025.
It's worth hurrying: “If the parent does not make it on time, then… ZUS will grant the benefit from the month in which the parent submitted the application, i.e without compensation for previous months” – explains ZUS. From January 3, different deadlines for submitting an application for this benefit apply. Parents whose children use nurseries must submit an application within two months from the first day at the nursery. In such a case, the parents are entitled to compensation. However, if the application is submitted after two months, the benefit will be paid from the month in which the application was submitted, and not for the preceding months.
One application up to PLN 1,100 more: “Actively in the nursery” is one of three variants of benefits under the “Active Parent” program. It is addressed, as the name suggests, to parents of children who attend a nursery, a children's club or are cared for by a day care provider. It's worth using it because it's up to PLN 1,500 a month. Meanwhile, ZUS reports that still “not all parents whose children attend nursery have submitted applications for the benefit actively in the nursery.” ZUS still pays them nursery subsidies in a much lower amount, PLN 400 per month.
Who will get the money? The money under this program is intended to cover costs the child's stay in the nursery, etc. Importantly, the benefit will not go directly to parents. “The application for this benefit is submitted by the parent, and the benefit is transferred monthly directly to the entity running the care institution (to the bank account indicated by it) to reduce the fees for the children's stay borne by the parents,” explains the Ministry of Family, Work and Social Policy.
