In Queensland, Australia, a search is underway for a man who was allegedly attacked by a crocodile. The man was fishing in one of the rivers.
The 40-year-old was fishing in the Annan River near Cooktown on Saturday afternoon. Shortly after 2pm local time, emergency services were called to the scene after a crocodile attacked him and police and emergency services attended.
“Initial information suggests that a 40-year-old man from New South Wales was fishing while standing on the river bank when he fell into the water and was unable to resurface,” state police said in a statement.
A search operation is underway, in which, in addition to the police, officers from the state Department of Environment and Science (DES) are taking part.
