Ursula von der Leyen announced on Thursday aid of 10 billion euros for countries affected by flooding. As Jan Grabiec, head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, said, half of these funds are to go to Poland.
On Thursday evening in Wrocław a meeting was held regarding the floodattended by: Prime Minister Donald TuskPresident of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, Prime Ministers Czech and Slovakia Petr Fiala and Robert Fico, as well as the Chancellor Austria Karl Nehammer.
During a later press conference, the EC chief assured that Europe stands with Poland and others affected by the flood. She added that we must join forces to confront the element, and said that “it breaks your heart” to see how devastating the flood is. She emphasized that talks with the heads of government of the countries affected by the flood concerned how to help as quickly as possible.
After the meeting, von der Leyen announced at a press conference that flood-affected countries would be able to use €10 billion from the Cohesion Fund. She added that it would be “100 percent financing” because “time is exceptional and actions must be exceptional.”
In a later entry on platform X, the head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, Jan Grabiec, emphasized that Prime Minister Tusk had organized a lightning summit of the countries affected by the flood. “The effect: EUR 10 billion (of which EUR 5 billion in Poland) from the Cohesion Fund on preferential terms is being released for reconstruction after the flood,” wrote the head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.
