Personal data of customers of the online pharmacy Nowa Farmacja has leaked onto the web. As reported, the breach included, among others, names, shipping and e-mail addresses, phone numbers, and even a list of purchased products. Nowa Farmacja warns that the personal data that has leaked may be used in fraud attempts.
The Nowa Farmacja pharmacy reported a “breach of confidentiality of some personal data” of customers of the portals nowafarmacja.pl and zielnik.pl. The leak also concerns people who used the services of this network through the Allegro shopping platform.
“On July 21-24, 2024, there was a breach of confidentiality of some personal data contained in the databases of stores run by the AP company, operated by the external company Atomstore. We emphasize that this applies only to customers of the platforms: nowafarmacja.pl, zielnik.pl and sales conducted via the Allegro platform. This does not apply to customers and patients of stationary pharmacies of the Nowa Farmacja Group,” the release reads.
The following personal data was leaked:
- first name and last name,
- e-mail adress,
- shipping address,
- Phone number,
- IP address,
- list of purchased products.
Nowa Farmacja assured in a statement that stores run by AP do not store medical data or sensitive data such as the PESEL numbertherefore there is no need to reserve it.
As emphasized, “the situation has been identified and the processor on whose servers the Store is located has implemented security measures and actions to prevent the continuation of the attack and minimize its negative effects.”
Data leak from Nowa Farmacja
New Pharmacy warns that leaked personal data may be used for fraud attempts among other things, by delivering commercial information to e-mail addresses or sending false SMS messages.
“For your safety, the previous passwords in the Store have been invalidated. When you log in to the Store again, you will be asked to reset your password. In addition, if the same password was used in other places on the Internet – we also recommend changing it in those places,” the pharmacy informed.
