The arrest of Ryszard Czarnecki was announced on Wednesday afternoon by the spokesman for the Ministry of Interior and Administration, Jacek Dobrzyński. “Today, at approximately 4 p.m., agents CBA detained former MEP Ryszard C. At the same time, his wife Emilia H. was detained in Warsaw. The proceedings were conducted jointly by the CBA with the department of the National Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw Katowice concerns Collegium Humanum” – wrote on platform X.

IN asset declaration from 2024 Ryszard Czarnecki revealed that he owns a 126-meter apartment – worth PLN 2.6 million, another 80-meter apartment – valued at PLN 800,000, a 90-meter summer house – for PLN 220,000 and a 120-meter apartment in Belgium – for 210 thousand euro (approx. PLN 895,000). Additionally, Czarnecki also has a 250-meter plot for PLN 100,000.
The detained former MEP recorded PLN 306 thousand in savings, PLN 220 thousand. euro (approximately PLN 937,000) and 10,000 dollars (approximately PLN 40,000). Working in Brussels in 2023, he was also supposed to earn EUR 120,000 gross, and PLN 177,000 by being involved in the Polish Volleyball Federation. Czarnecki also owns a 2018 Range Rover Velar – for PLN 205,000.
Czarnecki is involved in the Collegium Humanum case
How we remindedRyszard Czarnecki was detained due to the scandal surrounding the private university Collegium Humanum. Its former rector Paweł Cz. was arrested in February of this year, where he was charged with accepting financial benefits from issuing false certificates of completion of postgraduate studies. As it was established, the man was to receive over a million złoty for issuing about a thousand diplomas.
What is important, Ryszard Czarnecki's wife, Emilia H., was employed at Collegium Humanum and holds an MBA degree from that university.
