Legia has recorded four wins and one draw in the last five matches. However, the style of play was not impressive, which is why both the players and coach Feio were criticized. The fans were only happy with Bartosz Cabbage and Blaz Kramer, while the latter finally reached an agreement with the Turkish Konyaspor a few days ago and left Legia. Despite this, the victory over Motor seemed to give the team an additional boost before the blockbuster clash with Raków. But that did not happen.
Feio said directly what he thinks after the defeat to Rakow. “The better team lost today”
“The great hit of Ekstraklasa failed again” – Filip Modrzejewski from Sport.pl admitted. He added that despite the announcements, the meeting did not provide as much excitement as expected. “Often, the top league hits turned out to be 'bullshit' and 'matches for connoisseurs', because there wasn't much happening on the pitch and it was similar on this day,” he explained. Ultimately, Legia lost 0:1 and once again this season presented itself very poorly.
Right after the referee's final whistle, coach Goncalo Feio summed up the match. He noted that the better team lost that day. “We were more solid, even though we probably could have done many things better. We allowed the opponent to have one shot on target. Raków could have threatened us for the second time when I took off the stopper to let in another striker and go for the result,” he announced.
The Portuguese confirmed that game was not a good spectacle for fans– It was tactical, closed, not pretty to the eye, to one goal. It had a lot of breaks, it turned out to be jerky, hence the football assessment will probably be poor. If you are not satisfied with the artistic impressions, then you have to understand why they were as they were – he added.
According to Feio, the Raków coach did not surprise him in this match. – The opponent based their game mainly on pressing, aggression, long passes, collecting the so-called second ball and developing attacks by changing the center. The team that created more situations lost. This is football, sometimes it happens – he said.
– I think there is no better trainer in Poland than Marek Papszun – These were the words that Feio said in July 2022 when he left Raków for Motor. He emphasized that he learned a lot from the coach, but on Sunday he changed his narrative a bit. “He also learned a lot from me,” he blurted out. Finally, he spoke not very kindly about the management of his former club.
– When I came to Legia, all three training sessions before a match with Raków were recorded by them with a drone. This time I wanted to avoid that and I achieved my goal – they did not record us – he summed up. So how does he react to the provocations of, for example, CEO Piotr Obidziński? – Who? – he replied eloquently.
