The peak wave is flowing through Wrocław for the second day. During Friday's morning flood crisis team, the director of IMGW reported that the water in the city was receding. As reported by the services, the city system managed to absorb it. At night, there was a seepage on the Janówek-Pracze embankment, but the situation was brought under control.
On Thursday, the peak wave reached Wrocław. The good news is that the city system accepted this great wave and withstood it.
– All four polders in Wrocław are working, there are no problems – assured Joanna Kopczyńska, president of Wody Polskie, during Friday morning's flood crisis team with the participation of, among others, the Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Wroclaw.
– We are observing a 10 cm drop in water level – added IMWM director Robert Czerniawski.
The water level at the Trestno measuring point near Wrocław is currently 635 centimetres (as of 8:00). This is significantly less than during the memorable flood in 1997, when it was 724 centimetres. It should be remembered, however, that the alarm level is 450 centimetres.
The services are closely monitoring the situation. As they emphasize, the water level in the Odra is high but stable. It is expected that this state will persist for the next few days.
City officials say not to worry if large puddles or floods appear somewhere along the Oder, where the ground is soaked by groundwater. Such things are natural when the river is at such a high level, but they should be reported to the services.
