Two people are dead and 17 injured after a bus accident in Lechów near Opatów (Świętokrzyskie Province) on national road 74. According to the police, the bus was carrying a football team from Ożarów.
After the bus accident, 17 people were injured, nine of them were taken to hospitals in Kielce, Staszów and Opatów.
A 43-year-old coach of young footballers died in hospital, while the bus driver died at the scene – according to PAP findings.
Aspirant Małgorzata Perkowska-Kiepas, press officer of the Kielce Municipal Police Headquarters, said that initial findings indicate that the bus carrying the football team from Ożarów in the Opatów district, for reasons currently unexplained, veered off its lane and hit a tree. As a result of this impact, the bus overturned on its side. – There were a total of 19 people in the vehicle, including players aged 16 to 18, the football coach and the driver – she said.

An emergency medical service helicopter landed at the scene.
– We are focusing primarily on providing assistance to all injured people – said the policewoman right after the accident. – The police are also conducting activities aimed at determining the detailed course and circumstances of this accident – she added.
