At least five years in prison is facing a 30-year-old from Łęczyca (Łódź Province) who hit an acquaintance during an argument. – The injured person suffered injuries that resulted in death – says Staff Sergeant Mariusz Kowalski from the Łęczyca district headquarters, who adds that “it was not a fight”. – Initial findings indicate that it was a single blow that ended in tragedy – he adds.
The tragedy occurred on August 10 on one of the streets of Łęczyca. – At around 8 p.m., a 37-year-old man was hit by a man he knew. Police officers and an ambulance team arrived at the scene. The injured man was transported to the hospital – reports Senior Warrant Officer Kowalski.
Unfortunately, the injured 37-year-old died in hospital a few days later.
– Officers from the criminal department have questioned witnesses to determine the circumstances and the exact course of the incident – says the spokesman for the Łęczyca police station. He adds that the 30-year-old who dealt the blow fled after the incident and hid from the police.
Arrested
Operational activities allowed to establish that the 30-year-old is hiding in the Lublin province. – The man was detained there and taken to the police detention center – reports Senior Warrant Officer Kowalski.
The detainee was charged with causing bodily harm resulting in death. – According to the penal code, such a crime is punishable by imprisonment for a period of not less than five years – adds the spokesman for the Łęczyca police station.
The 30-year-old was previously known to the police for his conflicts with the law. Now, by court order, he will spend the next three months in custody.
