For unknown reasons, the driver drove into a ditch on a straight section of the road in Skrzyniec (Lublin Voivodeship) and then overturned. There was a 17-year-old and two teenagers in the car, aged 15 and 16. They all suffered serious injuries. The police are determining who was behind the wheel.
The services received a report on Saturday around 10 p.m. The accident occurred in the town of Skrzyniec in the Bełżyce commune in the Lublin poviat.
“Preliminary findings indicate that the driver of the Audi vehicle, for unknown reasons, drove into a ditch on a straight section of the road and then caused the vehicle to roll over,” writes MaÅ‚gorzata SkowroÅ„ska, a junior officer from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Lublin, in a statement.
They suffered very serious injuries
There were three teenagers in the vehicle: a 17-year-old and two teenagers, aged 15 and 16.
All those with very serious injuries were transported to hospital.

They took blood for testing for alcohol and drug content
“We are currently investigating who was driving the vehicle and why the driver lost control of the vehicle. None of the participants had a driving license,” says the policewoman.
Blood was taken from all teenagers for alcohol and drug tests.
Statistics
Every year there are over 20,000 accidents on Polish roads road accidents. In 2023, according to unofficial data, 1,669 people died and 22,944 were injured. A year earlier, these were 1,896 and 24,743 people, respectively.
In 9 out of 10 accidents, the drivers were at fault. Young drivers aged 18-24 had the highest rate of accidents per 10,000 inhabitants. The cause of nearly 35 percent of the accidents they caused was the failure to adjust speed to traffic conditions.
After changing the regulations on pedestrian priority at crossings, withdrawing driving licenses for gross speed violations and increasing fines, the statistics of the last few years show that safety on Polish roads has improved. In 2019, there were 2,909 fatalities, almost 1,300 more than in 2023.
