A 13-year-old girl, a motorcycle passenger, died in an accident that occurred on Sunday in Gaj Wielki (Greater Poland Voivodeship). The driver of one of the two cars involved in the incident fled the scene. The man has already been detained by the police.

Around 4:30 p.m., police received a report of an accident on national road No. 92 in Gaj Wielki. The incident involved two passenger cars – an Opel Astra and a Volkswagen Golf – and a Yamaha motorcycle.

– Initial findings showed that the motorcycle driver hit the back of a Volkswagen Golf. Unfortunately, as a result of her injuries, the 13-year-old passenger of the motorcycle died on the spot. The 39-year-old driver of the two-wheeler was transported to hospital – said senior midshipman Sandra Chuda, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in SzamotuÅ‚y.

One of the drivers escaped

The driver of the Volkswagen Golf left the scene before the arrival of the services. However, the police quickly found out who he was and arrested him in the MiÄ™dzychód district before 6 p.m. – We are verifying why he fled the scene of the accident. The man's blood was taken for testing to check his sobriety, Chuda said.

The causes and circumstances of the accident are being investigated by the police and the prosecutor's office.

After the accident, national road No. 92 was blocked and drivers had to use detours marked by the police.
