He made an appointment to pick up the puppy from the breeding farm under the cover of darkness in Solec Kujawski (Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship). While the pet's owner was busy preparing documents, he drove away, taking the dog with him. The police quickly identified the 21-year-old and located him. He will have to explain his actions in court.
The incident took place last Sunday in Solec Kujawski (Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship). A woman from Bydgoszcz who wanted to sell a Pomeranian puppy was contacted by a resident of Bydgoszcz who was interested in buying a pet.
The man offered to pick up the dog at night, explaining that he was going abroad. The breeder agreed to the proposal.
– When the alleged customer showed up around 1:00 a.m., she did not suspect that he might have dishonest intentions. She showed him the dog and held him in her arms, and she started preparing the documents regarding the purchase of the animal, said the Municipal Police Headquarters in Bydgoszcz.
Suddenly, taking advantage of the owner's inattention, the man ran out of the house with the dog, got into the car and drove away.
As it later turned out, he had previously stolen a license plate from a car parked on the street and attached it to his vehicle.
The dog breeder reported the theft of the animal to the police from Solec Kujawski. On the same day, they managed to determine the man's identity and his place of stay in the Åšwiecie district. The perpetrator of the theft turned out to be a 21-year-old resident of GrudziÄ…dz.
The man was charged
Police officers from the Dragacz police station were sent to the scene. At the selected address they found a man and a stolen Spitz.
– A 21-year-old man was detained and taken to Solec Kujawski, where he was charged with stealing a dog worth PLN 3,000 and a license plate from a vehicle belonging to the dog's owner. The Penal Code provides for a penalty of up to 5 years' imprisonment for theft, police informed.
