Alcohol in sachets. OLV responds. “Withdrawal of the entire batch from the market”

OLV, a manufacturer of alcoholic beverage sachets under the Voodoo Monkey brand, announced that it is withdrawing the entire batch of alcoholic beverage sachets from the market and immediately stopping their production.

“We regret that the Voodoo Monkey product, even though it was produced and marked in accordance with applicable regulations, aroused negative and unintended associations. Therefore, the management board of OLV decided to immediately withdraw the entire batch of products from the market and immediately stop production. We apologize for this situation,” the company wrote in a statement.

Alcohol in sachets

The media recently reported on the sale of alcoholic beverages in soft packaging resembling fruit mousses under the Voodoo Monkey brand.

After the case was publicized, the Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the search for a method that will “block the practice of alcohol sachets.”

Dr. Paweł Grzesiowski, Chief Sanitary Inspector, announced that inspectors will inspect plants producing alcohol sachets and stores selling them, justifying this, among others: risk of confusion with children's products due to similar packaging.

In turn, the Ministry of Agriculture announced that from Wednesday, the Agricultural and Food Quality Inspection Service (IJHARS) will start checking alco-sachets for, among others: product labeling and compliance of the description with the content.
