The 27-year-old was driving a sports Porsche around Piaseczno. When he saw the policemen, he replaced the driver's seat with the passenger seat. During the inspection, it turned out that the man should not have been behind the wheel of the car. The quick change of places did not protect him from the consequences.
On Thursday evening (September 26), a 27-year-old resident of the Piaseczno district went for a ride around the city with his girlfriend.
“He remembered that he should not take the driving seat only when he noticed a police car. So he decided to switch seats with the passenger, thinking that he would outsmart the policemen,” said Senior Asp. Magdalena GÄ…sowska from the District Police Headquarters in Piaseczno. However, the driver's plan failed.
“He had nothing to defend himself”
The police intervened. “The 27-year-old had nothing to defend himself,” added GÄ…sowska. The man did not have a driving license. He is facing a court hearing, during which the court will decide on the amount of the fine – not less than PLN 1,500, as well as on the driving ban. Violation of this ban will be a crime punishable by 3 months to 5 years in prison.
As the police recalled, until the road traffic regulations were amended, the offense of driving a vehicle without a license resulted in a policeman imposing a fine of PLN 500, which ended the entire proceedings. “New regulations have been in force since October 2023, tightening the penalty for people who decide to get behind the wheel of a car, even though they should not be in the driver's seat,” explained the police spokeswoman in Piaseczno.
