The court postponed the hearing regarding the issuance of a safe-conduct for Paweł Szopa, the creator of the Red is Bad brand. Szopa is one of the suspects in the case of irregularities at the Government Agency of Strategic Reserves.

The case is being heard by the District Court in Warsaw. This court on Tuesday refused to issue a safe conduct letter for Michał K.former head of RARS.

A letter of safe conduct is a special document promising the accused to remain free until the final conclusion of the criminal procedure, in return for which the accused undertakes to answer in the trial on a so-called free foot.

In August, the prosecutor's office announced that it had issued a decision to present charges against Michał K. and Paweł Szopa. This concerns participation in an organized criminal group and failure to fulfill obligations and exceeding powers in order to obtain financial gain

It is not known where Paweł Szopa is. According to media reports, probably in one of the South American countries. He is wanted on an arrest warrant and a European Arrest Warrant. Michał K. was detained in Great Britain and is awaiting extradition.

Irregularities in RARS. Investigation

The basis for initiating an investigation into irregularities in RARS was the information collected by CBA classified materials and two notifications on suspicion of committing a crime submitted by the General Inspector of Financial Information. At a later stage of the investigation, the General Inspector of Financial Information submitted two further notifications on suspicion of money laundering.

In July, the prosecutor's office brought charges against two other people in the RARS case: the director of the purchasing office of the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves, Justyna Gdańska, and the manager of this office, Joanna P. These charges concern the abuse of powers in connection with the performance of public functions, which allegedly involved preferential treatment of some RARS contractors. in connection with the implementation of an EU grant in the amount of EUR 114 million for the supply of power generators for Ukraine.
