Robert Fico announced on Saturday on Slovak television that in May 2025 he will go to Moscow to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe. In his opinion, such a trip has nothing to do with the war Russia against Ukraine.

– Who's going to stop me from going to the peace rally? – asked the Prime Minister on Slovak television.

Fico announced that on Sunday he would be at the ceremony dedicated to the Carpathian-Dukla operation of Soviet troops in 1944 to “show that he does not forget that freedom came from the East.”

He also said that he told Ukrainian politicians that he “doesn't understand why they keep killing each other with Russians.” In his opinion, the situation is not changing. – We are where we were two years ago. The Russians have greater territorial gains. We have hundreds of thousands of dead soldiers. And there is no military solution in sight, Fico said.

According to the Slovak Prime Minister, every war ends at the negotiating table. He also said that he would do everything to make it happen once it was over Slovakia had standard relations with Russia.
