A 13-year-old girl attacked three people with a knife. She talked about “being a celebrity”

In April at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman Primary School in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire in Wales A 13-year-old student attacked three people with a knife. According to the prosecutor's office, on the morning of April 24, the girl came to school with her father's penknife, which he used while fishing.

“During the break, she approached vice-principal Fiona Elias, pulled out a knife and stabbed her, shouting 'I'll kill you'. A moment later, she attacked the other teacher, Liz Hopkin. Then she attacked one of the students with a penknife, also shouting that she was going to kill her,” he reported in court prosecutor William Hughes KC.

Hughes told the jury that the teenage victim did not remember much of what happened, but described being “on the ground as the defendant made several attempts to stab her.”

The 13-year-old knife fighter was finally pacified by other teachers. They later testified that she “had a blank look on her face.” The police were called to the scene. The teenager allegedly told one of the officers: “I stabbed her, oops.”

“I'm 90 percent sure this will be in the news sooner or later. This is one way to become a celebrity,” the 13-year-old told a police officer who stayed with her after the attack. At the police station, she allegedly asked the officers whether the attacked people were alive and “how she should look her loved ones in the face after what she had done.”

All three victims survived. Hopkin, who suffered injuries to her leg, chest, shoulder and neck, was transported to hospital by rescue helicopter. Elias was injured in the arm and hand, and the attacked student suffered a shoulder injury.

The teenager appeared in court. The girl admitted to the triple attack but denied the attempted murder charges.

During a search of the teenager's home, police found a drawing with the inscription “Mrs. Elias with a frog face”, as well as notes probably referring to the attacked student, suggesting that the girl would “burn”. Another note read: “I may die” and “death before shame.”

Fiona Elias testified that she did not know the girl harbored hostility towards her.

Prosecutor Hughes said the notes, as well as what the defendant shouted during the attacks, “prove she had the intent to kill.”

He also told the jury that a few months before the attack, school staff had found a small kitchen knife in the teenager's bag. “Her backpack was searched because she was thought to be behaving strangely. The police were called and the teenager was expelled from school. She was later allowed to return on the condition that school staff could search her bag every day,” said Hughes.
