After 17 years, police officers from Bolesławiec (Lower Silesia) established the details of a burglary suspect and referred the case to court with an indictment. This was achieved thanks to a biological trace from an international database used, among others, by the English services. A 34-year-old man has already been charged.

A burglary and theft of power tools occurred in February 2007 in Bolesławiec. Investigators managed to determine that during the burglary, the perpetrator released a Rottweiler dog from one of the rooms, which was most likely defending his area. As a result, the thief was bitten.

All thanks to the trace left behind

“A forensic technician secured a biological trace, which was then entered into a police database, which is also used by the services of other countries. In Great Britain, in connection with a criminal case, a biological trace assigned to a man was secured. Its entry into the database gave a positive result” – he informs asp. pcs. Anna Kublik-Rościszewska from the Bolesławiec police.

The Interpol office in Manchester informed the Polish side about its findings. The police in Bolesławiec restarted the discontinued investigation. The officers determined that the man is currently 34 years old and lives in Legnica.

After 17 years, he was charged

The suspect was charged in a burglary case from 2007, and at the beginning of October the case was ended with an indictment and transferred to court.
