A year ago, Aleksander Śliwka was a key player in Nikola Grbic's team, which won the Nations League, the European Championships and guaranteed direct promotion to the Olympic Games in Paris. However, during the previous season, the receiver suffered an injury, breaking a finger on his left hand and for this reason he was not able to get into optimal shape. Although he won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Paris with the national team, he was a supporting figure.
Aleksander Śliwka joined the new team, but he has not made his debut yet
In the summer, after ten years spent in Plusliga, Aleksander Śliwka exchanged ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle for the Japanese Suntory Sunbirds, the current Japanese champions. He spent the last six years with the club from Kędzierzyn-Koźle and won two championships, four Polish Cups and three Super Cups, as well as the Champions League three times. In Suntory Sunbirds, he joined such famous volleyball players as Japanese player Ran Takahashi and Russian attacker (former center) Dmitry Muserski.
The club from Osaka started playing in the new season of the Japanese league three days ago. First, there was a 0-3 defeat (17:25, 19:25, 21:25) against Osaka Blueton. On Monday morning, Polish time, he lost again 2:3 (21:25, 25:19, 21:25, 25:21, 12:25) to the same team.
Aleksander Śliwka's new club started the new season with two defeats, but what is much more worrying is the fact that the host of the Polish national team did not play in any of these matches. In addition, he did not play in preparatory matches for the new season.
– I am not yet able to play 100 percent, but my condition is improving day by day, so I hope to return to the game as soon as possible – said Śliwka in an interview with mainichi.jp.
Will Śliwka be ready for the match against Voreas Hokkaido? Time will tell. This match will be played on Saturday, October 19.
