– Security elements are very important to all of us, but let's look for solutions that will be much less drastic – said Maciej Żywno, Deputy Speaker of the Senate (Poland 2050), on TVN24, referring to the migration strategy presented by Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Marcin Bosacki, an MP from the Civic Coalition, explained that the suspension of the right to asylum will be applied, for example, in a situation when information from the intelligence service about “a group of several hundred people armed with sticks and knives” appears again.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk during the Civic Coalition convention announced that on Tuesday, October 15, at the meeting of the Council of Ministers, he would present the government's migration strategy “Regain control, ensure security.” One of its elements will be temporary territorial suspension of the right to asylum. After his declaration negative comments poured inprimarily from humanitarian organizations.

Żywno: let's look for less drastic solutions

– When I saw the strategy itself, I noticed a number of very good things in it related to integration policy, economic policy, how to use migrants, but also actually to security policy, including ensuring tight borders and regaining full control over who comes and who no, said Żywno.

– However, I was surprised to see this issue of the provision on the temporary suspension of asylum. That's exactly what it's called, without details on what legal acts should be changed – said the TVN24 guest, confirming that he had seen the strategy. – I think that after the conversation with the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration, Maciej Duszczyk, there is an indication that it is a matter of changing laws and then introducing regulations – he added.

Deputy Minister of Interior and Administration Maciej Duszczyk will be a guest of Tuesday's “Piasecki's Talk” on TVN24 at 7.30.

Żywno continued that “it seems completely unnecessary.” – If we have a situation in which the tightness of the borders has improved, the dam is in better and better condition, it is being repaired, there are more uniformed services on the Polish-Belarusian border, and therefore the effectiveness is greater, it seems that there is no reason to introduce any suspension asylum – he said.

– Especially since – as non-governmental organizations report – many migrants and refugees passing through do not receive the opportunity to submit an asylum application or do not submit it, so this is still a situation in which such activities are carried out. They also raise a lot of controversy. However, the whole world of non-governmental organizations, not only activists, but also people involved in building democracy in Poland years ago, who remember how Poles gained asylum in other countries, in 1981-82 or earlier, reacted very strongly to this as actual limitation of human and humanitarian rights – noted the TVN24 guest.

The Deputy Speaker of the Senate emphasized that he could not imagine a situation in which “we would suspend the elements of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, of which we, as Poland, were the de facto progenitor in 1989.” – This is really unnecessary, assuming that security elements are very important to all of us, but let's look for solutions that will be much less drastic – he concluded.

“The entire immigration strategy will be presented”

Marcin Bosacki said that “when it comes to the procedure, there will be a normal, proposed procedure for statutory changes with consultations, then it will go through the Sejm.” – The entire state immigration strategy that has been developed will also be presented. I talked to Deputy Minister Duszczyk, already mentioned here today. This is a person who has the soul and mind of a person who knows deeply about immigration issues, he noted.

As he continued, “his work on this bill guarantees that there will be nothing contrary to the law or common sense.”

– Why are we different here? This is the slogan “we will suspend the right to asylum”, but it is clearly stated that it can only be suspended in a small territory for a specific period of time: a week, two, a month, but not for everyone, he noted.

Bosacki emphasized that “we are dealing with organized militias trained by Kagiebists on the border.” – And this will be used, for example, in a situation when there is intelligence information again that there is a group of several hundred people armed with sticks and knives and so on. – However, if they cross the border, even though it is becoming more and more tight, then they will not They could apply for asylum, but they would be immediately deported, he added.
