Gluten has been detected in gluten-free oat flakes – reported the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate (GIS). He also explained that consumption of the product by people with intolerance/allergy to gluten or wheat may cause an allergic reaction.

As we read, the Chief Sanitary Inspector was informed by Bezgluten Sp. zoo to withdraw a batch of gluten-free oat flakes in which the presence of gluten was found as a result of owner's tests.

“As part of its internal control, the Bezgluten company tests products for the presence of gluten. Testing of the raw material used to produce the batch of oat flakes specified above showed gluten content, which means that the standards declared by the external raw material manufacturer are not met,” explained GIS.

The company immediately decided to withdraw this batch of product, and on October 10, all customers who purchased the non-compliant product were informed about the situation. The products are disposed of.

The State Sanitary Inspection authorities cooperate with the manufacturer and monitor the process of withdrawing the product from the market.

Warnings regarding food or products that come into contact with food are regularly published on the GIS website.

These announcements – as GIS emphasizes – are not intended to stigmatize entrepreneurs, but to take immediate action: returning products to the store or withdrawing them from the assortment. Thanks to cooperation with food industry companies, consumers can be informed about the threat quickly and effectively.
