– We all know that I won't reveal a military secret if I say that the front line fell apart. Unfortunately, the Russians have already entered the town of Sełydowe and are strengthening their positions there. I think in the near future they will circle it and capture what will give them a tactical advantage in the march to Pokrovsk. This is very bad – said Marchenko.

– Firstly there is a shortage of ammunition and weapons. Secondly, there are no people, there is no way to fill the gaps. The soldiers are tired, they are unable to hold the front line, the general said, pointing out that the Ukrainians do not have the ability to control the situation in the region.

Unian also quotes the words of analyst Oleksandr Kvalenko, who estimates that if the Russians capture all of Selydov and Kurakhov, they will create optimal conditions for launching offensive on Pokrovsk – a key city for Ukrainians from a logistics point of view.
