Data such as name, surname and residential address are protected by the provisions of the GDPR. Disclosing them, in this case to television viewers, may result in criminal liability. In this case, Elżbieta Jaworowicz may be threatened fine, restriction of freedom or imprisonment for up to three years. For disclosing personal data, the personal data protection authority may impose a fine of up to EUR 10 or 20 million. “The Personal Data Protection Act provides for criminal liability for failure to comply with the principles of personal data protection (Article 49 – Article 54a). For example, disclosing data to unauthorized persons may result in a fine, restriction of liberty or imprisonment for up to 2 years or up to one year if the perpetrator acts unintentionally,” we read on the website giodo.gov.pl.
