After a disappointing previous season and no medal (defeat in the competition for bronze with Projekt Warsaw), the current competition is even worse for Asseco Resovia. Poor style of play, problems with new signings, poor atmosphere and terrible results so far results. The Rzeszów club is struggling with many problems, and some people have begun to fear a repeat of the 2019/20 season, unfinished due to COVID-19, which Resovia finished in thirteenth place. Resovia caught her breath, but it was not enough
The Rzeszów team recently caught their breath, winning two matches in a row, against Indykpol AZS Olsztyn (3-0) and Stal Nysa (3-2). However, this is a drop in the ocean of Resovia's needs, which, above all, requires stabilization of form. The win against Cuprum Stilon Gorzów could have shown that the team is slowly getting back on track. However, the task did not seem to be easy, because Andrzej Kowal's team was doing surprisingly well. They won five of the nine previous matches.
Hell battles with Stilon
Resovia quickly realized this scale of difficulty. The first set was extremely exciting and horrendously long. The hosts chased the Gorzów team for a long time and caught them at the very end, leading to an advantage game. In it, both teams had several chances to win, until finally, when the score was 34:33 for the Rzeszów team, Neves Atu made a mistake in attacking and won the set for the hosts. In the next game, Resovia was not so lucky. They started very well, with a 7:3 lead, but it only got worse over time. So much so that they ultimately lost 18:25.
The next set is another horror movie. There was no sign of it for a long time. The Gorzów team controlled the course of events and with the score at 24:21 they had three points balls set. However, they didn't take advantage of any of them thanks to the great one game block of flats in Rzeszów. We had an advantage again, again to the advantage of the hosts. Neves Atu only blocked Klemen Cebulj's block, and Stephen Boyer with an effective attack gave the Rzeszów team a 31:29 win.

However, just like before, the hosts were unable to build on this success. Go for the blow that in this case would give them a win for the full pot. Thanks to the great play of Kamil Kwasowski and Neves Atu, the guests quickly jumped into the lead, which they maintained until the very end of the game, which Stilon won by 17. This resulted in a tiebreak. In it, both teams went point by point. Robert Taht's block on Boyer and Gregor Ropret's net turned out to be key. These mistakes by Resovia gave the guests a priceless advantage, which they eventually turned into a 15-13 victory in the tiebreak, and thus 3-2 in the entire match.
On the one hand, Resovia can appreciate this point, because it almost took both sets won out of the hands of the Gorzów team. On the other hand, she was unable to follow through and wasted opportunities, first for three points, and then for two. There's still a lot of time until the end of the regular season, but there may not be enough of those “spots” until then. Especially since on Sunday, November 10, at 2:45 p.m., they will have a very important (and difficult) trip to Tricity for the match against Trefl Gdańsk.
