According to the latest forecasts of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) over the next five years, Romania's GDP will increase in real terms (in prices fixed) by 3.5 percent annually. For comparison, Poland and Hungary can count on growth of 3.1-3.2%. annually. The cumulative growth of Romania's GDP in 2025-2029 will be almost 6 percentage points. higher than in Poland (23 and 17 percent, respectively).

“You can, of course, shrug your shoulders and say that poorer countries usually develop faster than wealthier ones. However, Romania is no longer poor. According to some indicators, it has already caught up with Poland in terms of the level of economic development,” the website notes.

The analysis of GDP per capita shows that from 2003 to the end of 2023, Romania recorded a 129% increase in income per capita. This is the best result in the entire European Union. In the case of Poland it is 114%. Economic growth per capita accelerated population decline in both countries, but in Romania, which joined the EU in 2007, the population shrank more than in Poland (by over 10% according to Eurostat).

Taking into account the level of GDP per capita (and not the growth rate), Romania is slightly behind Poland and far behind the Czech Republic – writes money.pl.
