“Officers of the Criminal Department of the District Police Headquarters in Puck […] with the participation of officers of the Second Implementation Department of the Pomeranian Customs and Tax Office in Gdynia, 21 October 2024, they entered the warehouses in Żelistrzewo, where they discovered and detained approximately 30 tons of products in the form of washing and softening liquids, coffee, perfumes and phone chargers with counterfeit trademarks, known and popular on the Polish brand market,” the announcement said police. Another 10 tons of products were secured in Rumia, Wejherowo County. In total, the officers discovered 40 tons of products with counterfeit trademarks, the market value of which was estimated at almost PLN 2 million.

“The criminal activity, which has been ongoing since June this year, included, among other things, pouring substances in the form of gel into bottles and sticking them with labels with counterfeit trademarks or sticking stickers on delivered goods already prepared in packages. Professionally prepared labels closely resembled the markings of renowned brands” – further explained by the Police Headquarters in Puck.

Two of the four men detained in the case are father and son – residents of the Puck district, who, under the guise of legally registered companies, were allegedly involved in the production and marketing of counterfeits. The next two suspects were to rent the hall for production purposes and deliver goods.

They have already been charged with “marking and trading in goods with counterfeit trademarks of significant value, which they turned into a permanent source of income”, which is punishable by imprisonment for up to 5 years and heavy fines. “The District Prosecutor's Office in Puck, supervising the case, applied preventive measures to them in the form of supervision, property bonds and bans on leaving the country. […] The case is developing and our further joint activities in other voivodeships cannot be ruled out,” the police statement summarized.
