The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate informs on its website that “as a result of tests conducted by the State Sanitary Inspection, a higher than permissible level of ochratoxin A was found in a batch of wholemeal rye flour type 2000.”

The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate warns. Toxins produced by fungi were found in the flour

GIS in the message explains that ochratoxin A is a toxin produced by fungi of the Aspergillus and Penicillium species, “which has a harmful effect on human health.” “At the request of GIS, a risk assessment was prepared by experts from the National Institute of Public Health PZH – National Research Institute, according to which consumption of the product with the given batch number may pose a risk to the health of consumers,” says the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate.

Here are the details about the product in which the harmful toxins were detected:

  • Product: Wholemeal rye flour type 2000, net weight 900 g;
  • Batch number: 11/12/2024;
  • Date of minimum durability: 11/12/2024;
  • Producer: Radix-Bis Sp. z o. o., ul. Gerberowa 22, 83-010 Rotmanka.

The services are monitoring the product recall process

The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate reported that the flour producer, Radix-Bis Sp. z o. o., committed to inform customers about the situation and withdraw the product. “The State Sanitary Inspection authorities cooperate with the entity and monitor the process of withdrawing the questioned batch of the product,” we read in the statement. GIS states that “the batch of product indicated in the message should not be consumed.”
